"Perhaps' remarked Samuel Alexander, "Bergson … has been the first philosopher to take Time seriously"¹ In this paper I propose to examine Bergson's theory of real time, or duration. To do so is to explore the key concept from which flows Bergsonism, as well as most contemporary process philosophy. Before proceeding, however, a remark on the origin of Bergson's discovery of duration is in order.
