In recent years, political phenomenology has emerged as a new and vibrant theoretical movement from the tradition of phenomenology. It sets itself the task of investigating and critically questioning political experiences within the framework of political onto-epistemologies. This signals a methodological shift characteristic of political phenomenology: it operates neither at the level of singular experience nor at the level of universal conditions of experience, but at the level of the particularity of historically constituted fields of meaning. The lecture aims to explain the background of the concept of field in the phenomenological tradition and to examine its usefulness for the analysis of political power and domination relations.
