Abstrakt
The aesthetic impact of language use is illustrated and evaluated by the examination of verse excerpts from several poetic traditions, including English, Russian, and German. Prosody as well as lexicon provide fertile ground for an understanding of how great poets fashion the inherent potential of a language's overall inventory into products of a creative linguistic imagination.
