The publication Care for the Soul (Starosť o dušu) is the result of international cooperation among authors from Slovakia, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. In three thematic sections—which address the forms of care for the soul, care for human life with regard to the ethos of action, and care for the soul in relation to philosophizing and thinking—the authors seek answers to fundamental philosophical questions: How and what do we care for when we care for ourselves and the world? What concept of the soul, subjectivity, and life do we draw upon when defining what health and illness mean? Is care for the soul truly beneficial, and if so, in what way? Are we still capable of establishing a relationship with ourselves and the world? On the one hand, the authors define the internal conditions of the life of subjectivity; on the other hand, they describe its practical, ethical, and political dimensions. Drawing on both historical-philosophical and systematic research, they present their own perspective on resolving the issues raised.
