Registers of semiotic representations and analysis of the cognitive functioning of mathematical thinking
pp. 45-71
Abstrakt
This chapter introduces the notion of registers of semiotic representations and explains how it relates to the cognitive functioning of mathematical thinking. It first explains how these registers operate in the kind of thinking that requires the use of natural languages and the different types of discursive operations.
